Water resources management of Thailand recently is under risk and uncertainty. Increasing water demand because of economic growth and population increment, inefficiency use of water for all activities, and the change of agricultural to industrial sector lead to the difficulty of accessibility and equality in water resources management. Different areas of Thailand are in the risk of water shortage. Climate change crisis effecting all over the worlds results in the uncertainty of amount and pattern of Thailand’s rainfall. The change of rainfalls leads to increasing of flood and drought events. Urbanization, industrial and tourism growth also cause water pollution in various areas.
Regarding the situations indicated above, Faculty of Engineering at Kamphaengsaen, Kasetsart University, the sub-committee on water resources engineering under the Engineering Institution of Thailand, Irrigation College, Engineering Alumni Association under H.M. the King’s Patronage, and Thai Hydrologist Association have arranged the 8th National Conference on Water Resources Engineering and the 5th International Conference on Water Resources Engineering under the theme of “Water Resources Management under risk and uncertainty”. Oral and poster presentations including the academic discussion forum will be held in the conference. This will be the great opportunity for both national and international researchers, and general people to participate and exchange their knowledge and experiences for enhancing and improving water management practices in the future.
